Volunteer opportunities

We couldn’t do it without the hundreds of generous volunteers who donate their time, energy and expertise each year.

Our volunteers allow us not only to serve more people, but to offer a wider range of services to those we serve.

There are many different opportunities for volunteers, from ongoing support to helping out with an annual event or fundraiser. We offer placements for college internships, community service, and job development.

We are always grateful to welcome new volunteers and are happy to provide training and support!

Meals On Wheels Drivers: Transport noon meals to homebound seniors in Orleans County. There are several routes available and volunteers begin their shift at 10:45 am. The current routes take 1-2.5 hours to complete. You can volunteer Monday through Friday, once a week, or monthly—it’s your choice. Perhaps you would like to team up with your spouse or a friend and drive a route together! Volunteers must have their own vehicle, a valid NYS Driver’s License, and be able to lift up to 20 lbs. Volunteer drivers will receive a mileage reimbursement that changes in conjunction with fluctuating gas prices.

Fundraising and Special Events Volunteer: Assist Arc’s Community Relations staff with fundraising events. You might be a hole watcher at our golf tournament, sell raffle tickets, sit on a fundraising committee, set up for events, collect basket donations, put up flyers, or serve food.

Office Assistant Volunteer: Assist with mailings, shredding, filing, copying, and various other office duties.

Committee Volunteer: Attend meetings monthly or quarterly depending on committee. Provide input, share information, and assist committee in their purpose.

Program Volunteer: Work directly in a program area along with staff.

Volunteer Interns: Many of our interns are studying for a degree in Human Services or related field and typically volunteer at one of our Day Habilitation programs or other program locations,

Some volunteer assignments require completion of our mandated training. Thank you in advance for considering ways you can help! If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information, please contact Shelley Falitico in the Community Relations Department at (585)343-4203 extension 222 or sfalitico@arcgo.org.
