Day Habilitation

Arc of Genesee Orleans provides day services to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to foster personal growth and encourage integration within the community. Known as habilitation, these services build self-esteem and independence while introducing individuals to a variety of experiences, new friends, and possible future volunteer opportunities.

Day habilitation services are available 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. weekdays. Life skills instruction can include communication, literacy, teamwork, nutrition, creating personalized environments and safety. Individuals participate in making music, art, and crafts. Physical activities include stretching, muscle building, and toning. Here is an overview of our sites and services.

The Arc of Genesee Orleans offers comprehensive transportation services for individuals attending programs.

Day Habilitation Center, 4603 Barrville Rd., Elba
This program offers structured training opportunities based on individual needs in self-care, communication, socialization, independent living skills, and healthy living. It also links individuals with disabilities to the community through volunteer work, recreation and leisure activities. Professional services include nursing, speech therapy, occupational and physical therapy, and behavior support.

GO TO Hub, 64 Walnut St., Batavia
Adults in Motion (AIM) and Without Walls (WOW) are innovative programs offering adults opportunities in educational and community exploration. Individuals are involved in a variety of activities within our community, including using resources at Genesee Community College. Individuals volunteer at Richmond Memorial Library, Genesee County Animal Shelter, Wyoming County SPCA, Meals on Wheels, United Way Backpack Program and the Office for the Aging.

Washington Street Day Habilitation, 215 Washington St., Albion
This program provides life-skills training to enhance and expand a person's ability to interact with the community. Individuals participate in music, crafts and community adventures, and volunteer at the following locations: Meals on Wheels, Central Orleans Volunteer Ambulance, The Salvation Army, Medina Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, Orleans Office for the Aging, Hoag Library, Cornell Cooperative Extension, and The Villages of Orleans Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Academy Street Day Habilitation, 16 Academy St., Albion
The program provides a variety of enrichment experiences and community interactions. Individuals participate in music, crafts, volunteer opportunities and community excursions. A variety of guest speakers, local artisans and musicians also come to the site to support individuals in developing new interests.
